You Can Still Get a $30 Uber Credit

All summer long, Uber had been offering their best sign up bonus ever: both new users and the user referring them would receive a credit of up to $30 Uber credit towards their first ride.  I posted about this back in June, although that promotion ended on November 23.  I’ve seen a lot of traffic come through my site on those posts, and I greatly appreciate those of you who signed up using my link!

Since late November, the normal referral bonus has gone back down to $20, which is still a great deal.  At this point, my referral link would offer you $20 off your first ride, but I’m not including that link here because there’s a better deal that I want to share.  A reader (and close friend of the Guru) mentioned to me that he recently found a specific promo code that still allowed him to earn $30 off his first ride.  The promo code is FirstRide30 and appears to be active through December, 2014.  If you sign up for a new Uber account, at the very bottom of the sign up page, click on Add a Promo Code, and enter FirstRide30 in the box, you should still get a $30 credit towards your first ride.

He sent me this screen shot of his account after signing up, which shows the $30 promotion active on his account:

So while I can’t guarantee that this will keep working, it appears to show that the FirstRide30 code is valid until 12/31/2014.  In other words, you need to create an account and add it to your account before the end of December, 2014, but then you have until December, 2015 to actually use the free ride.  So if you haven’t already signed up for an Uber account, I would highly recommend taking 3 minutes to create your account now using the FirstRide30 code to lock in the $30 Uber Credit bonus!

Happy Friday and Happy Weekend to all!

  1. Will it work to sign up for Uber through a referral link (like, for example, the guru’s) and *then* enter the FirstRide30 code, thereby getting $50 in credit (or even if the FirstRide30 cancels out the referree’s $20 credit, at least the referrer still gets the $20)?

    • That’s a really good question. I tried adding the FirstRide30 promo code to my existing account, and it gave me an error saying “Promotion only available to new users.” So if you were to sign up with a standard referral link (mine or someone else’s), you’d still get the standard $20 promotion, but you wouldn’t be able to add the extra FirstRide30 credit on top of that. It appears that the only way to use the FirstRide30 code is during initial sign up, so that’s your best bet at this point. Thanks for reading and for the question!
