Today Only! Cheap Flights to Washington DC $10 each way!

Frontier Airlines is launching service to Washington Dulles Airport (technically in Dulles, VA), and they’re offering crazy cheap flights to Washington DC: fares as low as $10 each way, but the sale is only valid today, May 13.  Flights are available from a number of cities, including Charlotte, Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Detroit, Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers, Jacksonville (actually St. Augustine airport) Las Vegas, Memphis, Minneapolis, Orlando, St. Louis, and Tampa.

To be fair, Frontier is a pretty extreme low cost airline, charging for almost all add-ons, including choosing your seat ($3), carry-on bags ($25 in advance, $50 at the gate), snacks, drinks, etc.  But even factoring all that in, you can still get roundtrip flights with a carry on bag for under $75 total!!  I’ve found roundtrip tickets as low as $25 total, so if you take a bag with you each way and don’t care what seat you sit in (especially from other cities on the east coast, where the flight is barely 1-1.5 hours in length), this can still be a very cheap getaway….just make sure you read all the details of fees when booking your flight.

Frontier will begin service to these cities in either August or September, 2014 (so obviously fares aren’t available before then).  Most of the cheap fares I’m seeing are on Wednesday and Thursdays.  The easiest way to view Frontier’s flexible date calendar is from their homepage, hover over Plan and Book, and then choose Low Fare Calendar:

2 important things to remember:

  1. This sale is only valid today, May 13, 2014!
  2. Make sure to factor in the extra add on fees for your trip, and just have your expectations set ahead of time!
