You know the saying – there’s no such thing as a free lunch.  Well in this case, that still holds true….this time it’s a free breakfast <\/strong>(in conjunction with a free hotel stay)<\/p>\n

With the Choice Hotels Best Rate Guarantee<\/a>, if you find a price lower than they offer directly on the Choice Hotels website<\/a>, they’ll give you the first night of your reservation completely free, and match the lower rate for the rest of the nights.  If you’re only staying 1 night, then that night becomes completely free.<\/p>\n

I was looking for a simple 1 night stay near the Charlotte airport before the Mrs. Guru and I head down to the Bahamas (for only 9,000 points<\/strong> roundtrip per person!!!!<\/a>), and I knew that Choice Hotels had plenty of options around the Charlotte Airport.  The Comfort Suites Airport<\/a> is only a mile from the airport and offers a free shuttle to\/from the airport:<\/p>\n

Sure, it’s not a luxury villa like we stayed at in Bali, but for a quick overnight at the airport, it’d be all we need – especially for free!  <\/strong>I found that the rate directly at Choice Hotels would be about $131 including tax, so as long as I could find a lower rate somewhere else, our stay would be completely free:<\/p>\n

One of the best tools for searching multiple hotel sites simultaneously is Hotels Combined<\/a>.  I did a quick search on there, and saw that the Comfort Suites was available from Hotelopia for only $116:<\/p>\n

Just to make sure, I clicked through to the Hotelopia site and sure enough, the total (including tax) was $115.93:<\/p>\n

With that, I went ahead and booked a room at the Choice Hotels website (no cancellation penalty until 6 pm on the day of check in, so if the Best Rate Guarantee claim was denied for some reason, I could easily cancel and wasn’t locked in to anything).  As soon as I had reserved the room at ChoiceHotels.com, I went to the Best Rate Guarantee Form<\/a>, and filled it out:<\/p>\n

After I submitted the form, I received a response back in about 30 minutes:<\/p>\n

A few minutes later, I received an updated confirmation email, with the rate of $0.00 for our stay:<\/p>\n

So just like that, we have a free night, including free breakfast – although we’ll have to pay for meals later in the day, so still no free lunch \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

This specific hotel appears to be available for other nights too, so if you’re needing a hotel in the Charlotte area, this could be your ticket!  Choice does have hotels all across the country and worldwide, so make sure to double-check the rates to see if you can score a free night wherever else you need to go!<\/p>\n
