Several airlines, including Turkish Airlines<\/a> and United Airlines<\/a>, are offering a sale on flights to Greece from Chicago….roundtrip flights are as low as $674.  While this doesn’t fall during the peak summer travel period, Greece can get pretty crowded then, so visiting during the off-season can avoid the crowds (and also has the advantage of lower hotel rates).<\/p>\n

Thessaloniki is the second largest city in Greece, and offers easy access to just about anywhere else…it’s a quick 45 minute flight to Athens, Santorini, or other beautiful islands.  I’ve found that Athens is a good city to visit for about 2-3 days, and then I would highly recommend getting out to see some of the other islands.  This fare to Thessaloniki would give you a taste of Greek life in a less touristy area, and let you hop around to other parts of the country.  Flights within Greece are very reasonably priced – as low as $40 each way, so it wouldn’t take much to turn this into a full Greek vacation.<\/p>\n

This fare is available for the month of November, and the weather in Greece can still be quite nice<\/a> during that time of the year.  Crete is about 10 degrees warmer<\/a> (59°-79° in November).  It’s not quite beach weather, but would be very comfortable for sightseeing….average highs are around 60° with lows around 45°.  Earlier in the month tends to have less rain.<\/p>\n
