Uber Promotions from Capital One

I’ve written a number of times about Uber, the cashless on-demand car service that is now widely available across the US and in a growing number of international cities as well.  Typically, Uber offers you a sign up bonus for becoming a new member, anywhere from $10-$30 off the first ride you take.  Once you become a member, you can refer others to get the same sign-up bonus, and you also get a referral bonus for yourself.

The Sister-In-Law Guru recently forwarded me an email that she received about a new promotion from Uber and Capital One:

Huge Uber Sign Up Bonus for Capital One Credit Card Holders

The promotion is only valid for new Uber members who have any Capital One credit card, but if you sign up using the Promo Code CAPITALONE, you’ll actually receive TWO rides, each up to $30 in value.  My referral link currently offers one ride for up to $10, so if you have a Capital One credit card, you’re much better off using the Promo Code CAPITALONE for your Uber sign up bonus instead of my referral link.

20% Discount for Capital One Quicksilver Card Holders

There is also one additional promotion being offered by Capital One, regardless of whether or not you signed up using the promotion aboveIf you have the Capital One Quicksilver Card and use that card as the payment method in your Uber account, you automatically receive a 20% discount on every Uber ride:

The terms of this offer show that it is available through April 30, 2016, so it should be around at least for an entire year!  20% off every single ride is a great deal, so if you have the Quicksilver Card, you’ll definitely want to consider using that to pay for your Uber rides.  I personally prefer to earn points directly with airlines, or with points that can be transferred over to airline programs (like Chase Ultimate Rewards Points and American Express Membership Rewards Points), as the Mrs. Guru and I have gotten huge value out of those points for international trips in Business and First Class…but direct cash-back programs like Capital One do have some advantages, and people who primarily travel within the US can get good value out of those points too.  For more details, you can check out this article comparing the two types of programs…but if you’re a Capital One member who already uses or has been considering signing up for Uber, these promotions are a fantastic way to save even more!  This Uber sign up bonus is the biggest I’ve ever seen, and saving 20% is pretty slick as well!
