Mike Rowe’s Entertaining Commentary on Flying on Small Planes

CRJ700

The other day, Mike Rowe was traveling on a United flight from San Francisco to Kansas City.  The flight was on one of the small regional jets that most of us have experienced at one point or another, but at over 3 hours, this is one of the longest flights operated by a regional jet today:

There’s only one bathroom on board, and it’s all the way in the back. One bathroom for 74 people. On a three-hour flight that was delayed on the tarmac for 35 minutes.

The issue isn’t directly with United, since all airlines that fly this plane (the CRJ700) have essentially the same layout with a single bathroom in the back.

At the airport, they drink their breakfast beverages like it was any other day, enjoying their lattes and orange juice with impunity. Then they blithely board this long and skinny Tube of Despair with no sense of how a solitary toilet can conspire with a bad floor plan to humble the strongest among us.

If you have nothing else to do for the next 20 minutes before the USA/Germany World Cup game starts, read his full commentary on the situation.  It’s sure to have you nodding along and agreeing with the entire scene.

With that…GO USA!
