A guide to In-Flight WiFi

Do you know what airlines offer WiFi? Here’s a quick guide to WiFi availability on various US airlines:

DELTA has WiFi on every mainline aircraft (i.e. full-size airplane, as opposed to the small regional jets), and they are in the process of expanding it to their regional jets too.

AMERICAN offers WiFi on about 75% of their mainline aircraft. Specifically, it is available on all 767 and 737s, and most MD80 and 757s.

US AIRWAYS currently has WiFi on almost 90% of their mainline planes. US Airways Express flights do not have any WiFi.

SOUTHWEST has WiFi on about 75% of their planes, and expect to offer it fleetwide in the next several months.

UNITED currently only has a small number of WiFi-enabled aircraft, primarily flying between NYC and SFO/LAX. They have added WiFi to one international 747, with plans to expand their international fleet further.

JETBLUE currently does not offer WiFi, but has plans to install a brand new in-flight internet technology in 2013, which will be faster than WiFi currently being offered by other airlines.

VIRGIN AMERICA has fleetwide WiFi – all of their planes are WiFi enabled.
